This reference design demonstrates the use of the AWR1642 single-chip mmWave sensor with integrated DSP as a vehicle occupant detection sensor enabling the detection of occupants in a vehicle. This design provides a reference processing chain that runs on the C674x DSP, enabling generation of a heat map to detect occupants in a field of view (FOV) of ±60 degrees.
This reference design demonstrates the use of IWR6843, which is a single-chip mmWave radar sensor with integrated DSP for an indoor and outdoor people counting application. This reference design uses the IWR6843ISK evaluation module (EVM) and integrates a complete radar processing chain onto the IWR6843 device. This solution can detect up to 250 objects, and point and track up to 20 people with a field of view (FOV) of ±60º in the azimuth (horizontal) plane.
The IWR1843 device is an integrated single-chip mmWave sensor based on FMCW radar technology capable of operating in the 76- to 81-GHz band with up to 4-GHz continuous chirp. The device is built with the low-power 45-nm RFCMOS process from Texas Instruments. This solution enables unprecedented levels of integration in an extremely small form factor. The IWR1843 is an ideal solution for low-power, self-monitored, ultra-accurate radar systems in industrial applications, such as, building automation, factory automation, drones, material handling, traffic monitoring, and surveillance.
